New "Find An Expert" Broadcast Email Service

I've just launched the "Find An Expert" Broadcast Email Service.

Here's an opportunity for journalists, writers, authors, tv and radio producers, reporters, meeting planners, trade show directors, etc. to find an expert that can flush out a story, give a quote, offer advice, make presentations, or make themselves available as a speaker for up-coming events.

This service allows the visitor to input their contact info, their publication/company name, their deadline, and a 100-word description of what they're looking for. Through the "Find an Expert" service, I'll send out an email blast to our database of experts and ask them to respond to the request for experts. This'll save the visitors tons of time looking for the right source.

Expert Advice from Keith Idle

I had another brainstorm on how to generate some interest in the website, finanexpertonline.com and decided to run it by Keith Idle.

Keith is a Public Relations expert in Kansas City and has been so kind and helpful with suggestions on how to publicize findanexpertonline.com. His client, Chad Brewer, who is a Home Maintenance and Repair expert, was on a Kansas City TV show and had the url of findanexpertonline.com put up on the screen during his interview. That generated some good traffic to the site. Thanks to Keith and Chad.

I'm writing an article which may become an eBook on one of the deadliest skin cancer myths. I ran the idea past Keith and he gave me some great ideas on how to publicize it, first by approaching the major newspapers, then TV stations, followed by radio stations.

I'm trying to hook up with my dermatologist and get him some PR as well. I'm waiting to hear back from him. I'm also going to post links to some of the more informative books on skin cancer for those who want more inforamtion.

Wow-
What a ride! After months of optimizing for the search engines, the big dogs, Google, Yahoo and MSN, must have re-indexed because http://www.findanexpertonline.com/ went from virtual obscurity (pun intended) to show up at #2 on Google and MSN and #3 on Yahoo for keywords "find expert advice".

My dilemma is that I didn't expect to move up so quickly in the search engines and thought I had more time to populate the site with content (articles, podcasts, book reviews, etc.) and experts in the directory. But WHAM! But in a good? way. I'm afraid I won't have enough content for visitors coming to the website for answers to their questions.

So I put out an email blast to my friends and family asking for their help in posting articles on the site and referring me to anyone they know that might also post articles. And I must say Thanks to everyone that has helped so far. Experts are coming in from everywhere, posting articles, signing up in the directory, and hosting forums.

I am meeting some fantastic people. Chad Brewer is a Home Maintenance and Repair Expert and Carolyn Pfouts is a Sales Training specialist. Dorit has posted a great article on vegetarianism. Great people all.

Article on Common Ad Mistakes Out for Distribution

I've put together an article on "Ten Common Advertising Mistakes That Waste Your Money- Part One" and have submitted it to ten different article directories.

My last article on a simple SEO technique went out and had been downloaded from a number of sites. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it had been downloaded but I didn't see any votes on the article. I believe that the votes move your articles up in popularity ranking which helps move your website up as well.

I'll be posting Part Two of the article next week, and then follow it with a couple more articles.

Better SEO for find-an-expert-online.com

I've been reading quite a bit lately about how to optimize my site for the search engines. And I've found another little technique that'll help get http://www.find-an-expert-online.com found.

The trick is to use hyphens in the domain name of your website. That way, http://www.findanexpertonline.com becomes http://www.find-an-expert-online.com. The search engines may be smart enough to find http://www.find-an-expert-online.com on their own, but why leave it to chance.

I use http://www.find-an-expert-online.com for all my online marketing, and use http://www.findanexpertonline.com for podcasting, business cards, and word-of-mouth advertising. The hyphens just make it to big a mouthful.

Try this for your domain name. You may see a decent improvement in your search engine rankings. Google, Yahoo, and MSN may all put your name just that much higher in their rankings. Just try to do it before you get to deep into an already existing website.
